Description:
The image “Escheresque Impossible Cubes” is slightly but carefully altered photo, in order to create an Escher-like effect -- hope you can notice what the “catch” is!?-)).
Even though the original Escher cubes are spatially impossible and can exist only in two-dimensional, flat pictures, in this stereo 3D image this effect works well! Actually, it adds another unreal element to the three-dimensional image.
More Escheresque stereo images coming soon!
The original photo was taken at Art OMI, a beautiful art park upstate NY. This sculpture is called "Valledor", by Forrest Myers, 1969.
The little girl was not in the original photo, I added her later in order to create a slightly surrealistic contrast (colors, circle) to the sculpture (gray, square).
I took the 3D photo with the Fuji W3, but using the individual shutter feature (3D image from 2 shots with each individual shutter), that is, the "cha-cha" method, in order to achieve greater depth in the photo.
