@Real3D - yes, issue is limiting people's ability to vote only once on each image. Without log-in, that is problematic. Working on it though!

@NVIDIA: Have you consider a system where members of the community can vote for as many pictures as they like but only once and at the end of a set period, one week, two weeks, or maybe a month, display the pictures with the most votes on the award table, this would elevate the pressure and responsibility from Nvidia and give members of the community a more active role in what images they would like to see win the awards. This is only a suggestion as I'm sure there would be a lot of technical programing problems to work out. Regards Real3D

@Real3D - I think we are basically saying the same thing and I agree. Pretty much no matter what image gets an award, there will be someone out there that thinks it is undeserving or that their work is more deserving. And sometimes they may be right. The process is a little too random now, most likely, and there are images that get overlooked. It is our hope that the community helps with this by commenting on and rating images they feel are deserving. Right now, these features are under-used and we're looking at ways to improve this. Please feel free to suggest ideas. Thanks.

Another issue we are trying to resolve is that if a image is given an award it shows up in the award gallery based on the date it was uploaded... so an older image that gets a Gold Award would not show up on the main page in the awards section. Working with the developer to change the order to be based on the date of the award, rather than date of upload.
@gwar195 - We haven't had a Best 3D Photographer competition? If we had, or do, I'm sure LudvikXIV would do well ;-) He's had many photo awards and won our March Photo Contest.
The Photo Champion award is something different - this recognizes a photographer for his contributions to the site, and for acting as an NVIDIA 3D Vision "champion" in the field, and/or for contributing to helping the community in some fashion.
Perhaps we'll add a "photographer of the year" to the year-end awards....?

@real 3d I totally agree with you on some of the stuff. The staff pics that turn into silver and bronze and gold. I don't agree with them all either, It's nice to show off work and everything but I would like to see really good stuff, things that were overlooked to things that should have been in the running for real prizes in the contests. I feel some of my stuff was overlooked. But I only care to the point that i want to share my work with everyone to enjoy. Thats why i guess people should use the follow button. LudvikXIV is great i think think got robbed in the last contest for the best 3d photographer to that guy who won. So I know what your saying.

@NVIDIA: Thanks for the update. It was as you say very frustrating at the time to upload a picture and to find within a short period of time found it had disappeared from the board not giving it a chance for other members who may not go on the site for a day or two to view or comment on your photo. There is no problem with glamor photography in fact most are of the highest quality and composition,again the reason I raised this point was due to the overload but not of glamor shots but of the same image that had been uploaded three times, hopeful your new system will eradicate this problem. Concerning the cat: On the award board that particular day were some extremely good 3D pictures, the cat I felt was not. This was not an attack on the member who submitted the photo but a personal opinion on how the image was judged. Like Nvidia the National Stereoscopic Association is an independent body containing it's own community and the photo may have been highly viewed by it's members but it dos not mean we all have to think alike, this is what makes us human and gives us freedom of speech. Again thanks for the update and I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Looking forward to the new look.

@Real3D - we've tweaked the uploads to only show three images from a single batch to help resolve the issue of one person pushing everyone off the latest uploads page. Hopefully this will help, let us know.
Can't say I understand the "glamor photography" statement as we don't control what images are uploaded to the site - this is dependent on the user community. Lately, a lot of what I would call our highest quality images have been of models, so perhaps that is what is contributing to this feeling. Be part of the solution - upload images in different genres!
And the judgement of photos, like any other artistic medium, is highly subjective. Personally, I like the motion of the cat in the image and the 3D scene I feel is created well. It's a different approach to this type of scene and I like it. For what it is worth, this image is from the set from this year's competition with the National Stereoscopic Association and it was viewed highly by the members there as well.
If we were to only give awards or "staff picks" to technically perfect images... this would exclude most of the community, which would be true of 2D photography as well - but 3D adds an extra level of challenge and our goal is to be as inclusive as is possible.
We're going to be unveiling a redesign to the photo page soon (within a week if all goes well) that will help some with what you are frustrated about - and thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, it won't include the category menu you suggest. So stay tuned, check it out, and let us know what you think. Thanks.

I like that all photos are uploaded to the same page. There is more to a photo than just a clear image. You need to look past the faults and try to see what is presented as a whole. Gold is reserved for the images which meet the highest standards with lower quality images reciving the lesser rewards. Also everyone deserves the chance to have their efforts showcased good or bad and the current system does not punish for personal tastes. Just because an image is moved off the page quickly by others uploading does not make a strong arugment to vanquish game uploaders to their own page. I dont spend alot of time on game images as they arnt my thing even though im an avid gamer. Ive learned alot from less than perfect images and there is alot to be learned from mistakes.
There are peeps who can abuse the system but its rare here. I would hate to think my photos which arent at the lvl to others here can be seen as not worthy of an award. Just food for thought

How in Heavens name did this photo of a blurred cat achieve a silver award? Who judges these pictures? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure there must be other members out there who feel that the site has become a vehicle for glamor photography and the capture of gaming shots many of them uploaded several times forcing other members photos off the board. The simple answer to this is to split the upload board into 3 categories GLAMOR, GAMING and AMATEUR Photography, giving members the time for their photos to remain on the upload list longer.
